The President of FIDE: Ugra is a real capital of sport
«The Farewell Bell» has rung in honor of 60 graduates of Ugra boarding school of the Olympic reserve. The president of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was the special guest of the official school assembly.
On behalf of World Chess Federation he congratulated the graduates with a new stage of their lives.
«It is needed to thank all the teachers that are now saying goodbye to you. Your boarding school is well-known not only in Ugra but outside the region. Recently it has become not only the chess capital of the world but a capital of sport as well. 20 years ago nobody could imagine that a small Siberian town would become famous all around the world. But sport made this come true», – said Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. Together with a student of the sport school he made the first move on a chess board.
In the presence of parents, teachers and special guests the deputy governor of Ugra Alexey Putin has awarded the graduates with diplomas.
The boarding school gives education and specialized physical training in 16 sport disciplines for more than 350 students, 47 of them are members of national teams of Russia and 270 athletes are members of the teams of Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous region.
Upon completing education in the boarding school students are getting secondary vocational education of advanced level with specialization in physical culture and are qualified as teachers of physical culture and sport.
