Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has made his contribution to planting greenery in Khanty-Mansiysk
The Alley of Champions that was set up on the territory of Ugra chess academy a couple of days ago has expanded today with new bushes of lilac by virtue of the president of World Chess Federation Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. The special guest of Khanty-Mansiysk has personally planted a tree there.
«I would like to thank the authorities of the region for building this chess academy in Khanty-Mansiysk – this is a beautiful place situated in a beautiful city. We have organized many great events here and I am very happy to set up this chess alley, I hope it will be one of the most attractive places in the capital of Ugra», — said Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
The director of the department of physical culture and sport Evgeny Redkin, the mayor of Khanty-Mansiysk, the president of the Chess Federation of Ugra Vasily Filipenko and the head of FIDE in Russia Berik Balgabaev have also participated in the event.
It is to be noted that planting trees was done on the day of the last round of FIDE Grand Prix in Khanty-Mansiysk. Today, on March’26, the champion of the tournament will be defined in Ugra chess academy.
