Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has arrived to Khanty-Mansiysk
The president of World Chess Federation Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has arrived to the capital of Ugra.
The president of FIDE is attending the Chess Grand Prix Final.
Upon his arrival to Khanty-Mansiysk, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has noted that he was following the games that were played in the capital of the region.
«All this time I was following the games. They were very interesting and the fight was so tense; the group of leaders is compact. Today is the last day of the tournament and I am looking forward to getting to know who will be the winner of it. I don’t want to run ahead of the story and to make premature statements about the leader – all the candidates are very strong and deserve the victory».
Today, on March’26 the final round of FIDE Grand Prix will take place in Ugra capital. In addition to the closing ceremony of the tournament Kirsan Ilyumzhinov plans to attend the following events in Khanty-Mansiysk:
11.00 – the official school assembly «the Farewell Bell» in Ugra boarding school of the Olympic reserve. The event will take place on the 1st floor of the boarding school arena.
13.00 – the opening of the Chess Museum in Ugra Chess Academy. (Ugra Chess Academy, Commentators Hall, ground floor)
21.00 – the official closing ceremony of FIDE Grand Prix Final. The awarding of main trophies of the tournament. The acting governor of Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous region – Ugra Natalia Komarova will attend the ceremony.
